Thieves have more rights then the people they are thieving from.

So, my story goes. I was closing in on the end of my shift at the sunglass place, and an old guy walks up to me and tells me that, the customer I had said hello to was robbing me blind. At first I had thought it was a joke and the women looked at him in disbelief. Then started swearing at him and disrespecting the old man. She showed me her shopping bag and there was nothing but phone accessories in it. I told the man to walk away before it escalated because the women was becoming more and more agitated. She said it made her sick to be accused of stealing. I watched her the whole rest of the time while she tried on a few more pairs of sunglasses.

She said thank you walked to the next kiosk and said to the guy running it "white people always accuse black people of stealing". I walked around the kiosk to make sure nothing was missing and lo and behold there were three pairs missing! I watched her walk to the next kiosk down, look at a purse, look around and without missing a beat stick the purse under her arm and walk away. So at that time I was pretty angry. I called mall security and they had asked me if I was prepared to make a stop, which consists of a security guard and myself confronting the women with the evidence of my seeing her steal the purse. Of course I couldn't do it on the basis of my sunglasses being stolen, because I didn't actually see her steal them. But I sure as hell saw her take that purse.

I had gone down to tell the kiosk operator that she had a purse stolen as well as I could because she doesn't speak English all that well. Finally the security guard came down and ask me at least three more times if I was prepared to make a stop. Which I totally was. At the last second, he got a call on his walkie talkie saying not to proceed with the stop because of the potential to go bad. By then I was livid, the reasoning behind it was because they were afraid of a lawsuit from the thief. At that point I blew up on the security guard, I couldn't believe they were basically tell me they could offer no protection against thievery. I yelled at him to tell that poor women at the other kiosk why she wouldn't be able to get her purse back. Because of the fact they don't do great business and I am sure they can't be able to afford people stealing from them.

So I trudged down to the other kiosk with the security guard, arms crossed, and mad as hell. And waited for him to explain to her husband on the phone why he couldn't go after the lady that had stole their purse. After he had got done, he walked back to the security office and I had said thanks. I went back to my kiosk and called my boss to let her know what had happened, she had said it was just a risk you take when having a store. I guess I was more upset then her. A couple of minutes later a security guard who had helped me before walked up and handed me three pairs of sunglasses, I looked at him mouth open, "where did you get these" I asked. He said the lady had gotten arrested she had a warrant for her arrest and the police were taking her away. I asked him if he had gotten the other kiosk operators purse back and he said he had, I looked down toward her direction and she was waving and smiling. The security guard said she had the sunglasses hidden in the purse she had stolen. I laughed and thanked him profusely.

I was so relieved to have gotten our merchandise back. He explained that she went into a shoe shop and they had stopped her, they asked for her drivers license and ran it with the constant crew of police that are here and they found out she never went to court the day before. They arrested her on the spot. It's funny though, they probably would have let her go if she didn't have a warrant, and she would have gotten away with our stuff.

And the next day, I got stung by a wasp, twice.

Fun post. Glad you got the glasses back.

Suggestion:

Break up your writing into paragraphs. The way you have it laid out, it's one run-on blog entry.

It's nice to read the info, though. Congrats on getting married.

Thanks for the comment. Finally! I appreciate the suggestion. It's funny though I just went through the whole, you need to put paragraphs in your writings and essays for the immigration essay I just wrote. I swear my brain is anti-paragraphical (Not a word I am aware).

Anyway, I fixed the post. The paragraphs I know are in the wrong spot, I just did it so people can stomach the post. Thanks again.
