Wiiiiiiiiii.

So it's my birthday right. I suppose it had to happen sooner or later. I've really been dreading this one. For some reason I just can't be happy about the fact that I've turned 30. Mik keeps telling me that 30 is nothing, he is going to be turning 40 in 3 and a half years. It's different for a girl though. Our brains work differently when it comes to aging, I swear it!

I did get a kick ass birthday prezzie though. I got a Nintendo Wii! What an awesome gift. We had the best time this weekend virtually playing tennis, boxing and bowling! It's all almost better then doing the real thing. I'm even sore as hell!

My Wii arm is broke.

Time does certainly fly.

It's almost been a year since I've actually sat down and even looked at my blog. Things have been really wonderful with the exception of my soul draining job. Working at a nursing home just makes you want to A) die before you get to that age of being institutionalized, B) appreciate fresh air, and C) makes you really depressed.

I suppose other than that Mik and I have been living our lives as we were always meant to be, together. We are two big kids just meandering through everything. It's lovely having that.

Blogs, Married Life, and Primative Internet Services.

I know, I know, I sure have left this space a bit ghost town-esque. Life happens I suppose and I've been really bloody busy.

Mik and I have gotten married. Finally! All that bitching and moaning about not being together and WHAM, we've done it.

Job hunt went well, I am working two jobs now. Which is great considering it's extremely boring hanging out at home all day. So now I make money! I am really enjoying work here one of my jobs is retail. The other one is working at a nursing home, cleaning and working in the kitchen. Not glamorous but it pays a hell of a lot more than what I was making in the states.

Mik and I have settled down quite nicely. Getting into the normal routine of working and being an old married couple. We are really loving life right now.

As for the internet service. Well out here we can only really get dial-up. Is that enough said? If we want to get satellite it would cost us big time, and seeing since we are both so cheap we will wait until the price goes down or they bring in cable internet. So as far as making posts it takes a long time to upload and post blog entries. Thus part of the reason I have been so slack in making entries.

Well, I suppose that's all for now. We are going to go be domestic and get some groceries. Hope all is well with everyone. Take care and BE GOOD.

Much anticipated update!

(Ginormous wooden horses and 17,594 miles from home)
(Just some good ol' fashioned Easter fun!)
(WE LOVE THE BEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(This is where the wedding magic will be happening, provided the weather cooperates!)

Just so everyone knows. We are alive and well. Things have just been so crazy here. With me settling in, organizing a wedding, looking for a job, etc....

When I first arrived it was blazing hot here, but thank the Lord for AC because we survived it! With out burning to a bloody crisp too. We've been going to millions of farmers markets and I've been to the beach numerous times. Things are quite grand at the moment. I am just really loving settling into my life with Mik. I never knew normal life could be so satisfying!

Well, anyways, before the masses start projectile vomiting I will leave you with some photos (and captions) of what's been going on.

Pre-Departure Update

Just thought I'd do a little update on behalf of Erica, seeing as she can only get online over at her sisters house.
She is doing well, but getting more and more nervous each day...not that I blame her. She tells me she's more worried about the flying bit than anything else, but I think the enormity of her upcoming adventure is slowly sinking in. All I can do is reassure her that I will be there for her, through thick and thin, good and bad, and that I will look after her and give her all my love and support.
To all of her friend-bloggers who drop by here and know Erica, I promise to do all of the above, and more. She deserves no less and will not get anything less from me.
All for now, just watch this space for updates:D

Ps. When Erica leaves NY, it's probably going to be in the low 40's...when she lands in Adelaide on Wednesday, it's going to be a mild 93F. My poor baby. I was sooooo hoping it wasn't going to be hot when she comes here:(

Sorry folks, for lack of a decent post. Things are busy here as you might expect with my moving to the other side of the planet and all. I am leaving Roc-city here in a few days. Saying goodbye to my home of over a year. I am going to spend some "quality" time with my parents. Which I am sure will mainly consist of my parents working and me snuggling up with a cat or five. Ah, it's alright. It will give me a chance to relax before some of the madness starts up. Not saying that moving over to Australia is madness, but there is lots to be done when I arrive. Such as PLAN A WEDDING! I think we have three months left to pull this shin dig off. I know we can do it. Especially with the help of Miks family. Anyways, hope you all are happy and healthy. If I don't post within the next few weeks you know why.

Don't worry though, there will be plenty of wild, wonderful and wackyily adventurous photos coming. Mik promised me he would take me to go hold a koala. There will be OODLES of photos of that.

Got Wood?

Long time, no post. Yes, I am alive, although I'm going to be dead tired by the time Erica arrives...let's just say that the house is getting a muchly needed once over, top to bottom, end to end.
And as a part of this make-over, I decided to spruce up the old bed frame with a headboard. This was my first ever major foray into the dark arts that is woodwork.
Many lessons were learned along the way:
1. You cannot stain MDF with good results, and it'll take two weeks to dry. Real wood from real trees makes real good looking wooden things. I'm glad I found this out, else I wouldn't have tried it with the real stuff and ended up with my final masterpiece.
2. When you put on an Estapol finish, make sure the damn coat is even, and doesn't have runs in it...ESPECIALLY SOMEWHERE REALLY FRIGGEN OBVIOUS!
3. Get LOTS of extra sandpaper if you get caught by mistake #2.
4. Don't waste your money on sandpaper, or the junk they make with glass. Garnet paper for the win, hands down!
5. Sand everything down smoooooth, the stain WILL enhance any scratches you may miss.
6. Perfection is impossible, that's why everything I make is "rustic"...it has the old used and imperfect look to it.
7. Just buy a damn wooden bed to begin with.

Anyhoo, I hope Erica likes it, it's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and now that she is on her way, well, the time was right. Now at least we can sit up in bed. The old tubes were a real pain the back and neck.

Enjoy, my love, this is for you.

Opie and Anthony...not for the faint of heart.

This is the radio show I've been listening to daily. Enjoy folks :-D
